Cook Time : 20 Minutes

Total Time: 50 Minutes

Ingredients for preparing sugar syrup

Sugar - 2 cups

Water - 2 cups

Cardamom 4 nos.

Rose Water 1 teaspoon

Saffron 1 pinch (optional)

Ingredients for making Golap Jam or Gulab Jamun dough

Milk - 1/2 litre

Flour or maida - 4 tablespoons

Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon

Refine Oil or Ghee- As required for deep frying

HOW TO MAKE GOLAP JAM (GULAB JAMUN)

In a kadai, add milk. Stir them continuously until the milk gets reduced. When the milk becomes mawa or kheer like consistency, remove this from the flame. Let this be cool.

Now in the mawa or kheer, add flour or maida, baking soda and cardamom powder (optional). Start kneading well.

At first, the dough will be sticky. But after kneading for sometimes, the dough will be perfect for making Golap Jam or Gulab Jamun balls.

Now divide the dough into small small portions. Take one portion on your left hand palm. With your right hand palm, start pressing this, then roll to give a round shape.

Thus complete making the Golap Jam or Gulab Jamun balls for all the dough.

In a big pan, boil water. Add sugar.

Add cardamom powder and rose water. Add saffron also.

Heat oil or ghee in a kadai or big pan. Keep the oil warm, not hot. Otherwise the Golap Jam or Gulab Jamun balls may be burned.

Add the Golap Jam or Gulab Jamun balls in the oil. Fry the Golap Jam or Gulab Jamun balls evenly on all sides until these turn brown.

Soak the fried Golap Jam or Gulab Jamun balls in the sugar syrup. Boil the sugar syrup for sometimes. Then take them out from the flame.

Soak them in the sugar syrup for 2 hours or more. Do not cover these.

After 2 hours, the Golap Jam or Gulab Jamun will absorb enough sugar syrup, become soft and will increase in size.

Now the Golap Jam or Gulab Jamun is ready to eat.

I will be glad if you prepare this Golap Jam or Gulab Jamun Recipe.
