CHOLAR DAL RECIPE/BENGALI STYLE CHANA DAL RECIPE


Cholar Dal or Bengali type Chana Dal Recipe is very delicious, easy to cook. 


Chana Dal is also known as split Bengal Gram. 

This Cholar Dal is served with the chapatis, luchis, paratha, kochuris and with rice also.  This Chola Dal is slightly sweet in taste.

Main Ingredients of Cholar Dal - Raw Chana Dal, Chopped Frird Coconut, salt, sugar, turmeric powder, ginger paste, Garam masala, cumin seeds, whole red chills, grated coconut and ghee*

HOW TO MAKE CHOLAR DAL RECIPE/BENGALI STYLE CHANA DAL RECIPE 

Wash Cholar Dal or Chana Dal thoroughly. Soak Chana Dal for about an hour. If you soak Chana Dal in hot water, then just soak for 15 minutes only. 


Soak raisins for few minutes. Then squeeze out the raisins from the water. Keep aside. 


Add ghee in a pan and add the chopped coconut to it. 


Fry the chopped coconut till golden brown. Keep aside. 


In a Pressure Cooker,  add the soaked chana dal.


Add cinnamon, clove and bay leaves. Add water.


On boiling, when the foams will appear on the surface of the Chana Dal, then remove the foam with the help of a ladle.


Add salt, sugar and turmeric powder. 


Pressure cook the Chana Dal until the dal becomes soft.


For preparing the Tadka:

Put ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and red chilli whole. 


Saute for a minute.  Add Ginger paste.  Fry for a second. 


Pour it over the cooked dal in the pressure cooker. Mix well.


Lastly add the fried chopped coconut, grated coconut and raisins.

Cholar Dal or Bengali Style Chana Dal is ready to eat and serve. 


Garnish the Cholar Dal or Bengali Style Chana Dal with the chopped fried coconut before serving.


This slightly sweet Cholar Dal or Bengali Style Chana Dal is generally eaten with Luchis, Koraishutir Kochuri, Chapaties and even with rice.
