Most of us love chicken because of its nutritional value, easy digestibility, low cost compared to mutton and most importantly its extreme versatility.
With Chicken, you can prepare varieties of Chicken Recipes. From simple Chicken Curry to Murg Maslam, Chicken Butter, Chicken Rezala, Chicken Jalfrezi, Chicken Mulligatawny Soup, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Lollipop, Chilli Chicken, Chicken Biriyani, Lemon Pepper Chicken, Garlic Chicken and so on.
I have one friend who can cook amazingly. He can cook various dishes with minimal oil and spices. He often would come to our home and would cook a stuffed whole chicken marinated with some spices. He just put the whole marinated chicken in the pressure cooker. After one whistle, he would take out the whole chicken. Then he would fry this boiled whole marinated chicken with butter. I did not taste this. Because I do not eat any meat. Other members in our family remarked this whole Chicken Recipe as “super tasty.”
I am presenting here one of the most simple, home-style Chicken Curry recipes. This chicken Curry Recipe goes well with rice, chapatti, naan, and paratha.
We in our family, we avoid very rich spicy Chicken Recipes. We prefer simple less spicy Chicken Recipes. So Chicken Curries are made in our family very lightly.
I must share here the background of presenting this Simple Chicken Curry Recipe.
Yesterday, I went to my brother's house. He was cooking Chicken Curry. Oh, what a lovely smell! He really cooks very well. My brother said in Bengali, "Aaj amar ekhane kheye jaa" ("Today, take the lunch here").
Whenever I go to his house, he offers me various delicious food that he cooks.
I requested him to give me his Chicken Curry Recipe details. I also requested him to take a photo of his Chicken Curry Recipe. He took a photograph of his Chicken Curry Recipe.
He shared me the photograph and also the recipe of his simply cooked Chicken Curry Recipe.
I collected the details of his Chicken Curry Recipe and photograph because I wanted to publish this recipe for the blog readers of my blog 'Simply Delicious Recipes'. Chicken Recipes are very popular.
Actually, at my home I rarely cook chicken because I do not eat chicken, though I can cook various chicken preparations. Some of you might have read my Mulligatawny Soup recipe .
In a famous cooking contest, I was asked that whether I am allergic to any food. I informed them that I am allergic to chicken, prawns, crab, pork etc.
But at the same time, I had also informed them that though I do not eat the above, but I can cook them.
Anyway, I am here going to present a Chicken Curry Recipe which was sent to me by my brother Jayanta Mukherjee, as mentioned above. This is a Bengali style Chicken Curry Recipe.

Chicken pieces (medium size) - 400 gram
Onion paste - 2 tablespoons
Finely chopped onion (1 medium)
Curd - 50 grams (optional)
Chili powder - ½ teaspoon or according to your taste
Green chili - 2 (slit)
Turmeric powder - ½ teaspoon
Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
Ginger paste - ½ teaspoon
Garlic paste - ½ teaspoon
Garam masala powder - ½ teaspoon
Mustard Oil or Refined Oil - As required
Salt - As per your taste
Water - As required
HOW TO MAKE THIS "SIMPLE CHICKEN CURRY RECIPE"
Wash the chicken pieces with enough water. Drain out the water properly and keep aside.
In the chicken pieces, add the turmeric powder, cumin powder, chili powder, onion paste, ginger - garlic paste and salt.
At this stage, you can add curd. Mix very well. Marinate them for half an hour.
Heat oil in a kadai or pan. Fry the chopped onion on medium flame till these turn golden. Keep aside.
In the same oil, add the marinated chicken pieces. Add the green chilis. Saute on medium flame until the water from the chicken pieces completely dries out. Stir for 5 minutes. Add warm water as needed.
If you are adding curd in the marinated chicken pieces, then add 1 pinch of sugar. Add the fried onions.
Taste, if required, add more salt. Cover the preparation. After sometimes, when the chicken pieces become soft and the gravy becomes slightly thick, add the garam masala powder (cardamom, cloves and cinnamon). Stir and remove from the flame.
Now this Simple Chicken Curry Recipe is ready to serve.
Serve hot chicken curry with boiled rice or roti, paratha etc.
Note : In this Chicken Curry Recipe, you can use chicken breasts or other boneless chicken pieces as well. Just use whatever you like.
